Hospital discharge: organising the return home
6 min read

The return home after a hospital stay is a key moment. Anticipating the transport makes the discharge smoother for everyone.
Anticipate as soon as the date is known
As soon as the discharge date is set, the transport can be booked. The earlier, the more company availability. Hospitals can centralise this — see hospitals & clinics.
Who organises it?
The hospital, the family, or the patient. With ARG, anyone can book via the online form — including for a relative (Family Mode).
The right vehicle
An ambulance for lying-down transport, a VSL or approved taxi for seated transport, set by the prescription.
Reimbursement
On prescription, the return transport is reimbursed by health insurance — up to 100% for long-term illness.
